Iodine is an important trace element that the body cannot produce, so it must be provided with food and water.
Iodine is particularly important for the production and proper activity of thyroid hormones, and is an essential regulator of energy metabolism and the function of the immune and nervous systems.
Functions of iodine in the human body:

- helps in maintaining proper cognitive functions,
- contributes to the maintenance of the energy metabolism,
- supports the proper production of thyroid hormones and the proper functioning of the thyroid gland,
- improves the condition of the skin and helps in losing excess weight.
The thyroid gland is most abundant in iodine. Without iodine, it is impossible to produce thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) in the thyroid gland.
Additional consultation with the attending physician is recommended in the event of thyroid disease, cardiovascular disease or taking diuretics.
