Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), as the main component of flaxseed oil, is a precursor and source of OMEGA-3 fatty acids, which the human body cannot produce. Alpha-linolenic acid undergoes transformations in the body that extend the carbon chain and add additional double bonds, ultimately leading to the formation of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
One of the most important functions of alpha-linolenic acid in the human body is to maintain a normal cholesterol level in the blood. Beneficial effects occur with a daily intake of 2 g of alpha-linolenic acid.
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that, like omega-3, supports the health of cell membranes by affecting their fluidity and function, while also increasing the quality and nutritional value of the product. Additionally, it participates in the activity of enzymes responsible for signal transmission within cells, regulates the activity of immune system cells, and helps protect against oxidative stress.
